CPD Workshops

Once you’ve completed your core training, your professional register will expect you to continue to develop your skills and knowledge as you practice. Our growing suite of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops are specially designed to provide you with new skills and knowledge in many different areas relevant to your practice.

These Chrysalis Workshops are intended for those of you who are already qualified and working either as a registered Hypnotherapist, or as a registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.

Chrysalis NFP Ltd offer the following one-day online, (start time of 10 am – 5 pm with appropriate breaks), certificated, tutor led workshops for professionals. These each provide seven hours of recognised CPD. All workshops are Quality Checked by The National Counselling Society or The National Hypnotherapy Society and meet the CPD requirements of the Professional Register. The cost of each workshop is £90.00.

CHRYSALIS CERTIFICATE IN THE INTRODUCTION TO NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING (NLP)

 

This one day CPD workshop, conducted online, will introduce you to the world of NLP and offer you the opportunity to learn some basic skills and techniques which can benefit you personally in your everyday life by improving your communication, building rapport, and observing body language.

On this workshop you will learn NLP philosophy of how the mind works, the difference between the conscious and unconscious mind and the representational systems that we use through the ‘Communication model’. You will learn how important it is to read and calibrate a person’s body language which represent our biggest form of non-verbal communication. You will be able to elicit a client’s core values and belief systems to help motivate them by using the practical skills and techniques that NLP has to offer.

 

CHRYSALIS CERTIFICATE IN THE INTRODUCTION TO POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD) AND TRAUMA

 

This one day CPD workshop, conducted online, will introduce you to discussion on the concepts of trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex-PTSD.

You will learn how our brains protect us: intrusions (flashbacks), avoidance (of reminders / dissociation); hyperarousal and hypervigilance (anxiety / reactivity) and the effect on memory.

With discussion on why not all exposed to trauma will develop PTSD; discussion of links to individual perceived severity of the trauma and availability of post traumatic support. How brains adapt: how and why depression, anxiety disorders (inc. OCD) and addiction can develop in those with PTSD

Post traumatic growth: from shock and crisis to surviving, thriving and flourishing.

 

CHRYSALIS CERTIFATE IN WORKING WITH SELF HARM

This tutor led online workshop is for therapists who want to develop their understanding and be better able to help
clients who self-harm. You will learn key information on the ways people self-harm and reasons for self-harm,
prevalence, links to suicide, how to assess risk and strategies for working with clients in a non-judgemental, ethical and
supportive way. You will begin working towards developing a professional confidence in working therapeutically with
people who self-harm.

 

CHRYSALIS CERTIFICATE IN DIVERSITY AND EQUALITY

 

This one day CPD will introduce you to the basics of working with diverse communities and ensuring that your practice is accessible and inclusive.

You will learn about terminology and identities, BAME and LGBT+ identities and inclusion, supporting people with disabilities, the Equality Act 2010 and how that protects diverse communities, issues faced by minorities and barriers to accessing therapy, plus how to work therapeutically with diversity and difference.

This is an interactive CPD where thoughts, reflection and participation are encouraged. You will also work on an action plan to help you develop your inclusive, accessible practice.

 

CHRYSALIS CERTIFICATE IN WORKING WITH SLEEP ISSUES

 

This tutor led online workshop will increase your understanding of the environmental and physiological factors that tell our body it’s time to sleep, Identifying unhelpful habits and behaviours and increasing knowledge of work with different approach to address sleep issues. The workshop will enable you to tailor bespoke therapy for working with clients.

 

CHRYSALIS CERTIFICATE IN SELF HYPNOSIS & RELAXATION TECHNIQUES

 

 This workshop will begin by exploring what is self-hypnosis and examine the differences with hetero-hypnosis. The workshop will then look at some of the benefits of self-hypnosis from a client perspective before exploring how self-hypnosis can be taught in a safe and practical way to clients to help them achieve their goals. The workshop will also focus on learning some simple relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and anchoring which can be easily taught to assist clients with many problems such as anxiety and stress. The study pack includes some additional information covering a brief history of self-hypnosis and related research findings.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand what is self-hypnosis and the difference between self-hypnosis and hetero-hypnosis
  • Understand the benefits of self-hypnosis for the client
  • Learn some simple induction techniques which can be used with clients for self-hypnosis
  • Learn how to direct the client to use self-hypnosis in a safe and practical way to help achieve their goals
  • Learn about the stress bucket model which can be easily explained to clients as a way of them understanding the importance of having appropriate strategies to manage their own stress
  • Learn some simple relaxation techniques which can be taught to clients such as anchoring and deep breathing techniques.

 

CHRYSALIS CERTIFICATE IN MENTAL HEALTH

 

This workshop, conducted online, will introduce you to mental health awareness and Mental illness and their definitions, concepts, labels and stigma.

You will learn about the risk factors and coping strategies with an overview of Mental Health conditions and common symptoms including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, dissociation, psychosis and have to foster positive mental health and psychological wellbeing.

(Please note that this course attendance and completion does not in itself equip participants to deal with or “treat” mental health issues presented and discussed. Ethically it is important to work at own competence, whilst being mindful of risk and the need to refer).
